Trusts (international & UK)

Trust administration & taxation

Trustees are under a legal obligation to take reasonable care and exercise reasonable skill in administering the trust. In certain circumstances new trusts must be reported to HMRC for one or more of income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax purposes.

Trustees have an obligation to keep proper accounts and submit annual tax returns. The taxation of trusts can be complex and PWT Advice can act as advisers to the trustees or as professional trustees.

PWT Advice can be named as trustees of both lifetime settlements and will trusts. We have the expertise to administer the trust correctly and deal with any property, tax or trust law issues that arise during the lifetime of the trust. To appoint a professional trustee can be useful if there are no friends or family members who you want to act or where there are potential conflicts between the beneficiaries of the trust.
